This weekend, DragCon returned to the Los Angeles Convention Center with some exciting updates for fans of the drag competition franchise. There, it was announced that both Valentina and Lolita Banana will host the brand new Drag Race Mexico spin off.
The duo will be on the lookout for Mexico's finest drag artists and put them to the test. Only time will tell who has charisma uniqueness, nerve and talent to take home the title and crown.
Fans will remember Mexican American singer and actress Valentina when she rose to stardom on season 9 of RuPaul's Drag Race. While competing she became a fan-favorite but was memorably eliminated when she refused to remove a decorative face mask on during a lip-sync to Ariana Grande's "Greedy."
At the end of the season, she was later crowned Miss Congeniality. Valentina later returned to compete on All Stars 4, but was eliminated in episode seven.
Meanwhile, Lolita Banana first came on the scene as a Mexico City native competing in the very first season on Drag Race France. However, Lolita ultimately placed fourth in the competition.
“With ‘Drag Race Mexico,’ you’ll find the tenacity of the Mexican heart,” Valentina described the new series to Rolling Stone.
The duo is not the first competitors turned hosts. They follow in the footsteps of Brooklyn Hytes who hosts Drag Race Canada, Jiggly Caliente who hosts Drag Race Phillippines and Nicky Doll who hosts Drag Race France.
Drag Race Mexico premiere date has yet to be announced, but it is expected to debut soon on WOW Presents Plus.
