William speaks out after being escorted out of DragCon

Social media went wild this week after news that Drag Race season 4’s Willam was escorted out of DragCon, which took place last weekend. Now, the fandom legend is speaking out about the event.

“There’s a special spot in hell for people [who] can’t take the truth being told on them but I will ring out those truths like a bell(i),” Willam said, adding that she was “surrounded” by “cops and guards like [she] was a criminal”.

Willam wrote: “They trailed me around the convention center and waited til I went backstage for the Queens Walk to descend and encircle me so they wouldn’t be by the fans and cameras.”

Drag Race and be a fan but there’s no reason to act like [this] just cuz World of Wonder makes some cute shows about queens.”

In the video posted to her YouTube channel, Willam greets Kerri Colby, before being filmed standing outside by 11 security guards and police.

According to Willam, they were told they posed “a risk” to the event.

Nicole Paige Brooks, who competed on season 2 of RuPaul’s Drag Race says she witnessed Willams escort out and joke about her and Tyra Sanchez being banned from the convention.

“Here’s some gossip for you. Willam was with me the whole time. As soon as Willam left my side, they let me right in,” Brooks told Pride Today host Ricky Cornish. “Was she the drama? Her and Tyra… there’s a notice at the door. Did you see their pictures at security?”

Brooks later said that after Willam was taken away by security, she was allowed into the event.

“I got to see Willam back there, before they carted her off by security. Did she ever even make it to the carpet? Did she do the walk Because they tried to get her from backstage. It was quite shady. But anyway, I didn’t say that. I heard that as soon as she walked away. They let me back there.”

Willam promises to share more about the incident in the coming days via the RaceChaser podcast.
